Student Expectations
Credit Recovery
Students can choose 1 class per session and earn up to 1 credit in the summer. Attendance is important and students cannot miss more than 1 day/session.
Science, Math, English and Social Studies can only be taken for credit recovery (when students need to re-take a class because of failing it prior). World Geography is offered both sessions, but choose which session you would like to take it. Do not register for both.
The only courses that can be taken as first-time credit are General Physical Education (PE) and Driver's Education.
Summer PE can only be taken once while a student is in high school. Summer PE enrollment is capped at 100 students per session. Your enrollment status will be confirmed in April when the registration closes.
Driver's Education is the same .5 credit elective class offered in the classroom during the school year. Your enrollment will be confirmed in April after registration closes. Driver's Education classes are capped at 26 per session. This course is NOT the in person driving experience program called Behind the Wheel. That program is offered as a service to our learners/their families and does not count towards any high school credit. Registration for Behind the Wheel will occur later this spring and is a separate entity from Summer School.
Registration closes on May 16. Confirmation and details will be sent to students and guardians closer to the start of summer school.
CTE Cooperative Work Experience
Students in this program earn school credit for on-the-job training while working in a CTE pathway - related job for a local business. Students apply the knowledge and skills learned in their CTE pathway classes as they perform their duties at work. Students are supervised by the employer as well as the classroom teacher and must complete 75 (1/2 credit) or 150 (1 credit) hours by the end of the summer (August 15).
Students may register but must apply and be approved by the CTE instructor before officially enrolled. This opportunity is limited to the first 15 students to sign up.
Prerequisites: One credit in the related Career & Technical Education Pathway and at least 16 years old on first day of class.
Pathways of study are:
- Agriculture
- Auto
- Aviation
- Business
- Construction
- Diesel
- Family and Consumer Science: Child Care, Restaurant Food and Beverage, Visual Arts and Design
