After School Pick Up Practice

After School Pick Up Practice

Ensuring learners arrive home safely is a priority every school day, but even more important with the cold winter weather upon us. WFPS collaborated with several community partners to develop a new practice for how to handle situations that occur with after school pickup that are outside of the normal, established routine for that learner (being picked up from school or having a trusted adult meet them at the bus stop, for example). This new practice ensures learners are safe and supervised, provides awareness to families of how the district will handle non-routine situations, and supports school staff with a pre-identified plan when non-routine situations arise after hours. This will go into effect starting Tuesday, January 16.

If you know that you will be unable to pick up your child from school or meet them at the bus stop, you are expected to make alternate arrangements for your child and to communicate those arrangements with the school’s main office. Working collaboratively, we will ensure that all learners make it home safely each night.
