SCHOOL-PARENT COMPACT

The L.E. Berger Public School and the parents of the learners participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, agree that this compact outlines how they will share the responsibility for improved learner academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.

This school-parent compact is in effect during the 2022-2023 school year.

School Responsibilities

The L.E. Berger Public School will:

  1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a safe, nurturing, and equitable learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:
  • Believe that each learner can learn using a proactive approach to learners’ learning and behavior
  • Identify and address the individual needs of learners
  • Do my best to attend L.E. Berger’s Family Nights and Morning Activities
  • Provide an environment that allows for positive communication between the learners, parents/guardians, and educators at L.E. Berger Elementary
  • Show respect to learners, parents/guardians, and educators
  • Be available to learners, parents/guardians, and educators

 

  1. Hold parent-teacher conferences (at least annually in elementary schools) during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.  Specifically, these conferences will be held
  • Parent Teacher Conferences: October 17 and 18
  • Parent Teacher Conferences: March 13 and 14

 

  1. Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress.  Specifically, the school will provide the reports as follows:
  • End of Trimester 1: November 18
  • End of Trimester 2: February 24
  • End of Trimester 3: May 25

 

  1. Provide parents reasonable access to educators.  Specifically, educators will be available for consultation with parents as follows:
  • Email and phone calls
  • Parent Teacher Conferences
  • Back to School Connection Days

 

Parent Responsibilities

We, as parents, will support our children’s learning in the following ways:

  1. Monitoring attendance;
  2. Making sure that schoolwork is completed;
  3. Monitoring the amount of television my child watches;
  4. Volunteering in my child’s classroom as requested
  5. Participating, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my child’s education;
  6. Promoting positive use of my child’s extracurricular time;
  7. Staying informed about my child’s education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school or the school district received by my child, by mail, by the school’s website newsletter, and responding, as appropriate;
  8. Serving, to the extent possible, on policy advisory groups as requested
