In-District Rapid Testing
The WFPS rapid testing sites at our district office, Horace Elementary, Sheyenne High School, and the West Fargo Sports Arena are closed over holiday break. The district will begin offering testing again starting Monday, January 3 on the same schedule as what was offered between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
COVID Data
West Fargo Public Schools is sharing COVID data twice a week. You can access these data reports from our COVID-19 webpage anytime or by clicking HERE.
When Students Are Sick
With cold and flu season upon us, and many families returning from winter break travels and large gatherings, this is a friendly reminder for our families to not send students to school when they aren’t feeling well. If a student does become sick while at school, the district utilizes these protocols to ensure all students are cared for. It is important to note that our protocols are applicable to all types of illnesses; they are NOT specific to COVID-19.
Updated Quarantine and Isolation Timeframes
On Monday, the CDC announced updates to the recommended timeframe for isolation of positive cases and quarantine of close contacts. Both timeframes were adjusted from 10 days at home to five days at home followed by five days of wearing a mask if the individual is not displaying symptoms. Exceptions for fully vaccinated individuals identified as close contacts still apply. Vaccination status does NOT matter when an individual is identified as a positive case.
The ND Department of Health adopted these recommendations from the CDC yesterday. The district is working to update all our protocols to align with these adjusted timeframes. Updated documents will be available from our COVID-19 webpage prior to students’ return to school on Monday, January 3.
