Vasichek Receives District's Classified Staff of the Year Award
West Fargo, ND – (March 30, 2021) – Surrounded by colleagues, friends, and family at a surprise ceremony this afternoon, West Fargo Public Schools’ lead school nurse was honored with the district’s prestigious staff award. Lisa Vasichek, lead school nurse, was awarded the 2021 – 2022 Classified Staff of the Year Award.
Mrs. Vasichek came to West Fargo Public Schools in 1994 as a part-time school nurse. In 2007, she transitioned into a full-time role and was eventually named the district’s lead school nurse in 2013.
During her 27 years with the district, she has provided nursing services to students at South Elementary School, Sheyenne High School, West Fargo High School, Cheney Middle School, Aurora Elementary School, L.E. Berger Elementary School, Horace Elementary School, Harwood Elementary School, Westside Elementary School, Eastwood Elementary School, and the Lodoen Kindergarten Center.
As this year’s award winner, Mrs. Vasichek was described in her nomination as one who is “a constant advocate for the nurses and the growing medical needs of students. She has a true dedication and passion for what she does, and she ensures students have the assistance and care they need while in the school environment.” As stated in her nomination, her role during the COVID-19 pandemic was invaluable to not only the school district, but the community: “The efforts that she has helped lead across the district throughout this past year to get us to the point we are at right now, back to a fully on-site, in-person instruction model, is more than deserving of recognition.”
As the Classified Staff of the Year honoree, Mrs. Vasichek receives a crystal apple, flowers, a gift from the district and the School Board, and a $500 check from the West Fargo Educational Foundation.
