Fischer Named Principal at Independence Elementary School

West Fargo, ND – (April 18th, 2024) – It is with great pleasure that Dr. Rachael Agre, Elementary Assistant Superintendent, announces that Mrs. Kaye Fischer has accepted the position of Principal at Independence Elementary School.

Fischer has worked in public education for 20 years, 18 of those years in West Fargo. Fischer has held teaching and instructional coaching roles at the elementary level and middle school level, served as a curriculum coordinator at the district level, and has most recently been working as the Assistant Principal at Independence Elementary School. As an administrator, Fischer worked with staff to implement BARR (Building Assets, Reducing Risks) systems to build positive behavior and academic supports for students. Additionally, Fischer served as a literacy instructor, classroom management instructor, and the New Teacher Course Facilitator for Elementary Teachers. Fischer also served as a KnowledgeWorks Facilitator from 2019 – 2023, bringing personalized learning to WFPS and North Dakota. Fischer holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the College of St. Catherine, and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

After interviewing and subsequently selecting Mrs. Fischer, Dr. Agre stated, "Throughout her tenure with WFPS, Kaye has embraced a variety of roles, each contributing to her exceptional preparation for this leadership position. Her recent service as Assistant Principal has allowed her to cultivate invaluable relationships with learners, families, and staff, while also gaining valuable insights into the needs and aspirations of the Independence community. With her wealth of experience and dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment, we are confident that Kaye will lead Independence to even greater heights in the years ahead.”

Fischer will assume her new role on July 1st, 2024.
