Urness Named Principal at Horace Elementary School

West Fargo, ND – (April 18th, 2024) – It is with great pleasure that Dr. Rachael Agre, Elementary Assistant Superintendent, announces that Mrs. Ericka Urness has accepted the position of Principal at Horace Elementary School.

Urness has 14 years of teaching experience and 19 years of experience in public education. For the past two years, Urness has been the Assistant Principal at Deer Creek Elementary. Before her current role, Urness was a Dean of Students at Freedom Elementary and Horace Elementary/Early Childhood Center-Transition Academy. Urness served as a CSSP teacher, adaptive physical education teacher and general physical education teacher within the West Fargo Public School District. Urness also taught for 8 years in Fort Collins, CO. Urness has also served as a Safety Care Trainer and received the Adaptive Physical Education Teacher of the Year award in 2015-16. Urness has an endorsement in Special Education, master’s degree in Educational Leadership from North Dakota State University, and dual bachelor’s degrees in Physical Education and Health Education, also from NDSU.

After interviewing and subsequently selecting Ms. Urness, Dr. Agre stated, “Ericka's dedication to our district and her proven leadership makes her the perfect fit to lead Horace Elementary into its next chapter of growth and success. With Ericka’s previous experience at Horace, she brings not only a deep understanding of the school's history but also an infectious enthusiasm for its promising future.”

Ms. Ericka Urness will assume her new role on July 1st, 2024.
