West Fargo Police Department's School Resource Officer Todd Pearson Elected to NASRO Region 8 Director

West Fargo, ND – (Feb. 15, 2024) – The West Fargo Police Department and West Fargo Public Schools are happy to announce School Resource Officer (SRO) Todd Pearson has been elected as the NASRO Region 8 Director encompassing MI, MN, NE, ND, SD, and WI, for a three-year term. SRO Pearson will begin the role in July 2024.

(NOTE: SRO Pearson will continue to serve as a School Resource Officer in West Fargo with K-9 Bella. This position is an additional voluntary role with NASRO.)

“It has been an honor to work with the West Fargo Police Department and West Fargo Public Schools for the majority of my career,” said SRO Todd Pearson. “I have had the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of learners and community members and look forward to bringing those experiences to the role of NASRO Region 8 Director.”

Director of Health, Safety, & Public Relations for West Fargo Public Schools Heather Leas stated “West Fargo Public Schools has benefitted from Officer Pearson’s knowledge, skills, and dedication to his role since 2007. In that time, he has served learners and educators at every level (and nearly every school) in our district, giving him a unique perspective on school-based policing. Where some may grow complacent, SRO Pearson continues to have a growth mindset, bringing the comfort dog program to our district in 2022. I am so excited for the members of NASRO’s Region 8 to have SRO Pearson as their Director, listening ear, and advocate.”

“The West Fargo Police Department is so proud of SRO Todd Pearson’s continued dedication to our department and area schools,” said Chief Pete Nielsen. “SRO Pearson has been instrumental in establishing the state’s first SRO comfort dog program and will bring his passion for community-led policing to his new role as NASRO Region 8 Director.”
