WFPS Educator Named The Arc Teacher of the Year

West Fargo, ND – (October 24, 2023) – West Fargo Public Schools is proud to announce that Jennifer Rossow was named the Arc Teacher of the Year at the annual Arc banquet. Ms. Rossow received the award for the exceptional instruction and service she provides to her learners at Horace Elementary School. The Arc offers this award to recognize a teacher who has demonstrated excellence in teaching students with intellectual disabilities. 

An individual considered for this award must have demonstrated teaching excellence in the classroom; positively influenced the attitudes and thinking of other education professionals as well as the general public regarding the education of students with intellectual disabilities; assisted in furthering The Arc’s goal of full educational opportunities for all citizens with intellectual disabilities; significantly involved parents and others from the community in the educational process; fostered inclusion of students with disabilities in the educational process; and exhibited practices and beliefs consistent with The Arc’s mission and position statements. A nominee must have been actively engaged in the teaching profession during the year the award is made. Eligibility is not limited to special education teachers. 

The Arc of Cass County is a nonprofit organization formed in 1956. Over the years, The Arc has been instrumental in gaining and retaining the rights of people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD). The Arc of Cass County currently focuses on protecting disability rights and providing social and educational programs for people with IDD.
