Svor Named Transition Specialist

West Fargo, ND – (May 2nd, 2024) – It is with great pleasure that Ms. Rachel Kjonaas, Director of Special Education, announces that Ms. Jami Svor has accepted the position of Transition Specialist for West Fargo Public Schools.   

Svor has worked in public education for 19 years, 18 of those years in West Fargo. She has held Special Education teaching positions at the high school and Transition Academy level, and most recently has been working as Special Education Coordinator. Svor holds a master’s degree in Special Education and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, both from Minnesota State University Moorhead. 

After interviewing and subsequently selecting Ms. Svor, Ms. Kjonaas stated, “Ms. Svor, our newly appointed Transition Specialist, brings extensive experience and a track record of innovation in the area of secondary special education and transition planning that builds readiness for learners with disabilities to be successful after high school. With a strong emphasis on supporting educators and integrating best practices for secondary learners, Ms. Svor employs a passion that drives a continued growth opportunity in the area of secondary special education. We eagerly welcome Ms. Svor as we remain committed to preparing all learners for life after high school.” 

The Transition Specialist will focus on developing systems that provide equitable opportunities and supports to learners with special needs in pre-employment and vocational services to successfully transition to post-secondary programs and/or competitive integrated employment. This work aligns with the high school academy model/outcomes and personal competency-based learning (PCBL).

Svor will assume this new role on July 1st, 2024.
