Sheyenne High School Students Claim Top Spots in VFW Auxiliary's Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest
West Fargo, ND – (May 12, 2021) – Two Sheyenne High School students have claimed the top two spots in the local VFW Auxiliary’s Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest.
Gracie Erickstad earned second place at the local level for her painting, “Carrying the Message.” Miranda Zeien earned first place and had her entry advanced to the state level, where she also received first place. Her charcoal piece, “All that Remains,” has advanced to the national level for consideration in the national awards totaling more than $31,000.
Each year, more than 4,000 high school students from across the country participate in the national VFW Auxiliary’s Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. The contest began in 1979 to recognize up-and-coming artists and encourage patriotism in youth.
