Fischer Named Assistant Principal at Independence Elementary School

West Fargo, ND – (June 8th, 2023) – It is with great pleasure that Dr. Rachael Agre, Elementary Assistant Superintendent, and David George, Independence Elementary School Principal, announce that Mrs. Kaye Fischer has accepted the position of Assistant Principal at Independence Elementary School. 

Fischer has 17 years of teaching experience, and 19 years in public education. She first worked with WFPS in 2005 as a substitute teacher. Fischer has held teaching roles at the elementary level, served as a coordinator at the district level, and has most recently been working as the SEL & Restorative Justice Interventionist & Coach at Liberty Middle School. Additionally, Fischer served as a New Teacher Course Facilitator for Elementary Teachers from 2015 to 2022 and currently serves as a KnowledgeWorks Facilitator bringing personalized learning to WFPS and North Dakota. Fischer holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the College of St. Catherine, and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Minnesota State University Moorhead. 

After interviewing and subsequently selecting Mrs. Fischer, Mr. George stated, "Kaye’s 17 years of experience in education, extensive work with K-5 curriculum, experience as an instructional coach, and her belief that every child can succeed are just some of the reasons why she is the best fit for Independence Elementary. She will be able to hit the ground running and can immediately support our learners and educators as they push further into personalized learning.” 

Fischer will assume her new role on July 1st, 2023.
