West Fargo, ND – (April 28th, 2023) – It is with great pleasure that Dr. Rachael Agre, Elementary Assistant Superintendent, announces that Dr. Erin Spies has accepted the position of Principal at Legacy Elementary School. 

Dr. Spies has 15 years of experience in public education and has been with West Fargo Public Schools since 2010. For the past year, Spies has been the Assistant Principal at Legacy Elementary. Prior to her current role, Spies was the principal at Heritage Middle School for three years. Spies has been an active member of various education committees for the district and state, including the North Dakota Personalized Competency-Based Learning Committee (ND PCBL), the Elementary Technology Committee, the Monitoring Committee, the Academy Task Force, the ND PCBL Steering Committee, and the Curriculum Committee. Spies has a Ph.D. in educational leadership from the University of North Dakota, a master’s degree in school counseling from Adler Graduate School, and a bachelor’s degree in theatre and secondary education from the University of Sioux Falls.  

After interviewing and subsequently selecting Dr. Spies, Dr. Agre stated, "Dr. Spies’ unique background of counseling and middle level experience has and will continue to serve the Legacy Elementary stakeholders well. Her passion for personalized learning and our district beliefs drives her work on a daily basis and will help each of our Legacy Lions to achieve the goals of our strategic plan."

Dr. Erin Spies will assume her new role on July 1st, 2023.
