West Fargo, ND – (February 10, 2023) – Two members of the Sheyenne High School Debate Team nationally qualified in Public Forum Debate at the NSDA North Dakota Roughrider National Debate Qualifier Tournament held at the Ramada Inn in Fargo, ND. This is the second year in a row that Hosna Dawlaty and Vidyaa Lav have qualified in the Public Forum Debate. They will be representing West Fargo Sheyenne High School and Team North Dakota in the National Speech and Debate Tournament that will be held June 11th-16th in Phoenix/Mesa, Arizona.

Additionally, the Sheyenne High School Debate Team competed and took 3rd place as a team at the NDHSAA State Debate Tournament held at Davies High School Saturday, February 4th. In the Public Forum Division 1 Debate, Hosna Dawlaty and Vidyaa Lav took 2nd place and were tournament runners-up with Jonah Follingstad and Reagan Koppelman as semifinalists. In the Public Forum Division 2 Debate, Elena Weng and Norah Casas were semifinalists with Ben Kramer and EllaNora Hayes were quarter finalists. In the Lincoln-Douglas Division 1 Debate, Elijah Nyberg was a quarter finalist. Lastly, in Lincoln-Douglas Division 2 Debate, Mithul Sathish was a quarter finalist.
