2022 Sheyenne HS Graduate Receives National Merit Scholarship
West Fargo, ND – (August 3, 2022) – In September 2021, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarships Program. Sheyenne High School’s Henry Christiansen was among those selected as semifinalists.
Today, we are pleased to share that Henry Christiansen was selected by the University of Oklahoma to receive their National Merit Scholarship. College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
To qualify for this scholarship as a Finalist, Henry had to complete a detailed scholarship application, which included writing an essay, describing leadership positions and contributions in school and community activities, showing an outstanding academic record, and being endorsed and recommended by a high school official. He also had to take the SAT® or ACT® and earn scores that confirmed his performance on the initial qualifying test. From the Semifinalist group, only 7,200 Finalists were chosen to receive National Merit Scholarships.
