Chitty Named Behavioral Health & Wellness Coordinator for WFPS

West Fargo, ND – (August 29, 2022) – It is with great pleasure that Ms. Annie Richards, Director of Behavioral Health & Wellness, announces that Ms. Kari Chitty has accepted the position of Behavioral Health & Wellness Coordinator for West Fargo Public Schools.

Ms. Chitty has 18 years of experience as an educator, coach, and mentor across a variety of disciplines. She has most recently served in the role of positive behavior support coach for West Fargo Public Schools. She holds a master’s degree in education and special education from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Valley City State University. In addition, Ms. Chitty is completing her coursework to become certified in applied behavior analysis, is a Safety-Care trainer, and a schoolwide information systems (SWIS) facilitator.

When asked what most excites her about taking on this new role, Ms. Chitty replied, “My experience as an educator gave me the perspective of teachers and the needs they have when working with learners who demonstrate challenging behavior. I also understand their need and want for relevant training that leaves them with actionable steps to improve the learning environment for their learners and the workplace environment for their staff. From a behavioral lens, one of the most important things we can do to improve the behavioral programming in the building is to create consistent systems that educators can use to improve their practice and the learning experience of their students. As a system, we must also strive to support educators in their classroom management and other behavioral needs, and I am excited to step into a role where that is the key focus.”
