District Launching Long Range Facilities Plan Task Force; Places Call for Members
West Fargo, ND – (April 11, 2022) – West Fargo Public Schools is launching a Long Range Facilities Plan Task Force to examine the district’s current and future facility needs in response to continued growth in the community.
In January, the district received its second of three demographic projection reports from RSP and Associates, which projects total district enrollment for the 2026 – 2027 school year at 14,559 learners. While many schools are projected to have sufficient space over the next five years, it is clear some buildings will have significant space constraints. In addition to space constraints, other topics warranting discussion related to district facilities include adjustments to accommodate a shift to high school academies, the district’s long-term vision for its PreK services, growth plans arising from the completion of the FMWF diversion, and more.
The Long Range Facilities Plan Task Force will include a virtual component to make participation as broadly available as possible, while including some onsite tour opportunities to allow participants to better understand the current state and future needs of district facilities. The task force will meet once in May and will reconvene in late summer through the fall for five additional meetings to explore specific topics related to planning for the district’s future. Meetings will likely be on Tuesday evenings and will occur monthly; a poll will be distributed to identify which late summer and fall dates work for the members confirmed to serve on the task force.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Those interested in joining the task force are encouraged to submit the online application by Sunday, April 24. Individuals will be notified via email the week of May 2 if they are chosen to serve on the task force.
