West Fargo High School
Coach Josh Downey begins his first season at the helm of the West Fargo High School Boys Basketball team. His experience includes coaching four seasons at the college level and six years at the high school level. At the college level, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Concordia-Moorhead, one season at Whitworth University, and one season as a graduate assistant at Gonzaga University. Both the Gonzaga and Whitworth teams made it to the sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament. At the high school level he has spent six years as the head coach at Heritage High School in Vancouver, WA, Timberline High School in Boise, ID, and Bigfork High School in Bigfork, MT. His most recent team went 26-0 and won the school’s first ever state championship and was honored as the Montana state Coach of the Year. Josh is a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where he was named first team all-conference for the men’s basketball team during his senior season. He earned a B.A. degree from Concordia in Physical Education in 2004 and an M.A. degree in Athletic Administration from Gonzaga University in 2008. Josh’s wife Bridgette is an elementary teacher in the West Fargo district. They are proud parents of their daughter Teagen (2008) and son Matt (2011), and reside in West Fargo.
