Department Overview

  • Students who eat nutritious, balanced diets are better prepared to learn and succeed in school. The food service department at West Fargo Public Schools supports learning by providing access to healthy, affordable meals to students in each school building. Meals are designed to provide variety and assist in developing life-long healthy eating habits.

    All menus meet or exceed USDA guidelines, with age-appropriate meal patterns based on the U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Meals are prepared and served in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

    Quick Facts

    • We participate in the National School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program and serve meals in each of the 19 school buildings.
    • Each day, approximately 2,700 breakfasts and 8,500 lunches are served in West Fargo Public Schools.
    • Over 110 dedicated food service employees work in school kitchens throughout the district.
    • 28.84% of students in the district qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
    • Ten school buildings qualify for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, where students receive a fruit or vegetable snack during the school day.
    • We participate in a farm to school program, bringing fresh, local produce into school cafeterias for students to enjoy.
