What is the PTO?
We are a local Parent Teacher Organization that is organized by interested parents and teachers. ALL PARENTS ARE MEMBERS. Unlike PTAs, we do not collect dues or report to a national organization. PTO is a formal group of parents and teachers that volunteer their time for the benefit of the students, staff and school as a whole. Being active in your child’s elementary school can be seen as critical to their success and besides, it’s a great way to stay involved during the school year. All parents and teachers/staff are welcome at monthly PTO meetings. Childcare is provided!
- Provide support for the needs of the students, teachers, and Deer Creek Elementary.
- Provide funds and volunteer power for classroom enrichment and staff needs.
- To promote safe learning environments, both at school and at home, that nurture life-long learners and responsible citizens.
What We Do
The PTO provides two book fairs during the year. We provide meals to teachers during conferences. We hold an annual fundraiser and use those funds to support our school. We organize the yearbook, sponsors field trips, provide money for staff and students needs as requested, host family fun nights and much, much more.
PTO members coordinate one main fundraiser at the beginning of the year. We also organize two book fairs one in the Fall and one in the Spring during conferences to raise scholastic bucks. Throughout the year, we have continual fundraising opportunities by collecting Box Tops, coordinating dine to donate nights at local restaurants and using Amazon Smile. All of the money raised goes towards enhancing the school’s resources for students, events throughout the year, and the needs of our great teachers/staff.
Why Be Part of the PTO?
Joining PTO and volunteering at the school gives you time to interact and develop relationships with the individuals that are educating your child. It is also a great way to meet other parents and form great friendships. Volunteering at your child’s school is an excellent way to set an example for your child. Plus, most volunteer opportunities with the PTO allow your child to help, so not only do they see you volunteer you get to spend time together making their school a better place.
