Welcome to Legacy Elementary School!
Legacy Elementary School provides an age-appropriate curriculum for literacy, math, science, and social studies. Students participate in physical education, music, art, and library on a regular basis. The school follows the West Fargo Elementary Behavior Plan, which introduces social skills and expectations, as well as implementing a building-wide positive reinforcement behavior plan.
National Blue Ribbon School
In 2017, Legacy Elementary School was one of 342 schools in the nation and one of three in North Dakota to be named a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Secretary of Education, Betsy Devos.
The Blue Ribbon program, which has been running since 1982, honors schools where students either achieve very high learning standards or make substantial improvements in their learning. The Education Department designated all three North Dakota Schools as “exemplary high performing” schools.
“This is an opportunity for us to showcase and highlight our schools,” said Kirsten Baesler, North Dakota’s Superintendent of Public Instruction. “These schools are making sure all students are experiencing growth and success. This is a national award; not every school is able to achieve the recognition,” Baesler explained. “… This is a huge celebration nationally, and we’re very excited to honor these three schools this year.”
The original building was brand new for the 2015-2016 school year. The building occupies a 10-acre site and has 24 classrooms with a total capacity of 575 students.
