Attendance

  • If your child will not be in school, please call the school office before the school day begins, with the following information:

    1. Name of your child
    2. Reason for absence
    3. Classroom teacher

Unexcused and unverified absences result when a student skips school or if no phone call has been received by the school. Repeated unexcused or unverified absences or truancy may result in a referral to the Juvenile Authorities through our SARB process.

If you know in advance that your child will be absent due to appointment, funeral, vacation, etc. please notify the office, in addition to your child’s teacher.

Picking up a child before the school day ends: You will have to come into the school to have your child dismissed from class. After you arrive, we will call your child down. You can call ahead to have your child ready. We will do our best to make that happen, but the end of the day can be a very busy time in the Office.

WFPS Elementary Attendance in the Hybrid Learning Model

    • Student “Synchronous” On-Site Attendance: Taken by school for the 2 days the student is in school. Please follow standard protocol and call the office to report any absence and reason why.
    • Student “Asynchronous” Off-Site Attendance: Taken once a week and recorded on Wednesday. Attendance is based on the student making a “reasonable” attempt to complete the off-site assigned work.
    • What is determined a “reasonable” attempt will be at the professional discretion of the teacher.
    • Class meetings taking place on Wednesdays are encouraged for all students but will not be considered for attendance purposes. Teachers will record these meetings to be viewed later if students are unable to attend online through Microsoft Teams at the designated time.
