WALK ZONE CHANGES FOR 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR

District leaders have spent the beginning of the summer studying ways to minimize the impacts to learners after receiving word which drivers will be returning this fall. We hope to resume our traditional services as soon as possible. We are currently twelve drivers short of regular bus services, down by more than half from just three years ago. To mitigate the driver shortages, the district is implementing the following changes to the bus zone eligibility to bring in line the services offered by the district with the bus drivers available.

The district has set a 1-mile non-bus zone around all Elementary Schools while a 1.5-mile non-bus zone around all Middle and High Schools; busing is offered to all eligible students1 outside of that radius. The distance is calculated using the district’s automated routing software to ensure fairness for all families.

Please see the following link to review the new walk zone for your school.

1 Eligible students: Students are eligible for busing services who live outside of the designated walk zone and within their school’s attendance area.
