Hawk Feeder System Elementary Boundaries

In initial conversations with the YMCA Learning Site Director, they believe they could add 20 spots to the after-school care program at Aurora Elementary, bringing the total to 80. As with all Y programs, these spots would be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

The district would provide transportation to Aurora from Westport Beach as 40^th Ave is a multiple lane road which we consider a hazard for elementary learners. 

Using this year's K-5 enrollment, there would be right around 50 learners in the Legacy walk zone that would be bus-eligible if moved to Aurora. 

District leaders meet with city leaders on a variety of topics throughout the year. Additionally, the district’s demographer, RSP & Associates, meets annually with city leaders and developers to update our enrollment analysis for the next five years. Pages 33–34 of their report outline the growth potential for developments as reported by their respective cities.

The district has considered several options for the boundary adjustments.  In the presentation to the School Board, the district outlined a few of the different options that would space out the movement of learners in phases. 

Following feedback from the April 1st informational session, the district has created an additional map that removes section "G".  This suggestion is not the school district's recommendation to the board as it misses several of our key goals with these boundary adjustments (create continuous and logical boundaries, avoid families driving past one school to reach another, balance learner enrollment across schools for as long as possible). 

Upcoming 5th graders would be able to apply for an in-district transfer back to the school they are currently in. Siblings of any of these learners could also apply. Approval of in-district transfers is contingent on school capacities. We understand that this is a difficult time already and we would open up an early in-district transfer window for upcoming 5th graders so they could know the decision as soon as possible.  

We are currently monitoring the capacities of each school and the amount of upcoming 5th graders as well as their siblings. 

Impacted Upcoming 5th Graders

In 2024 the district considered portables as an option to address growth. A two classroom-2-bathroom portable unit with the necessary additions to be ADA compliant, would be over $300,000. The cities of West Fargo and Fargo require these buildings to be on a foundation, which is not included in the price.
