DEAC-AP Educator Dress Code

All educators (inclusive of substitute educators, student educators, and contracted service providers) and volunteers must present themselves to learners, parents, and the general public in a professional manner when in school, while on school property, and when acting as a representative of the school at external venues.  As role models, educators and volunteers are to set positive dress and grooming examples for learners and adhere to standards of dress and appearance that are compatible with an effective teaching and learning environment.

All educators and volunteers shall wear attire appropriate to their profession and duties during the workday and at any work-related activities unless directed differently by their supervisor. The district recognizes the diversity of cultures, religions, and abilities of its educators and volunteers and shall take a sensitive approach when this affects dress requirements.  Expectations for educator dress are directly related to the district’s ability to provide and maintain a safe and effective learning environment for learners and educators.

When working at or visiting a school site during the instructional day, educators are expected to have their photo identification badge visible. West Fargo Public Schools asks all adults to visibly display an educator or visitor badge while at a school site as an assurance that they have been properly vetted and are authorized to be onsite while learners are present.

Any violation of this policy will be addressed appropriately by the administrator or supervisor.  Failure to follow the administrator’s or supervisor’s directive and/or blatant or repeated violations of this policy shall subject the educator to appropriate disciplinary action up to and including termination. Volunteers who violate this policy may be prohibited from working or serving in district schools for an appropriate period of time or permanently, as determined by the Superintendent or designee.
