ABDA-AP: Website Accessibility
West Fargo Public Schools is committed to ensuring accessibility of its website and any official district web presence for students, parents, and members of the public with disabilities. All current, updated, and new pages on the district’s website will conform to the W3C WAI’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA conformance, or updated equivalents of these guidelines. This applies to any official District web presence that is developed, maintained, or offered through the district, third party vendors, or open sources. This conformity will allow individuals with disabilities to independently acquire the same information, engage in the same interactions, and enjoy the same benefits and services within the same timeframe as those without disabilities, with substantially equivalent ease of use. Further, this will ensure that individuals with disabilities will not be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or otherwise subjected to discrimination in any district programs, services, and activities delivered online.
CONTENT REVIEW
The district’s Public Relations Department and web services team are responsible for periodically reviewing and evaluating new and existing material that is published by district staff and uploaded to the website for accessibility. Only district staff who have received training on website accessibility may upload material to the website. The Public Relations Department and the web services team shall assist any staff with publishing or uploading accessible material should assistance be needed. Any department or staff page with non-conforming webpages will be asked to correct the problem in a timely manner.
COMPLAINTS OR GRIEVANCES
Students, parents, and members of the public are asked to notify the district of inaccessible content on any official district web presence. The notification, which should include the nature of the accessibility problem and the web address of the requested material, should be sent to the district’s general mailbox (info@west-fargo.k12.nd.us), to the attention of the Director of Health, Safety, and Public Relations. West Fargo Public Schools will provide the inaccessible information no later than five working days following the date the notice was received.
If a stakeholder would like to file an official complaint or grievance regarding a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504, and Title II related to the accessibility of any official district web presence, they may do so using Exhibit ABDA-E1. The filing of this form will trigger an official investigation of the complaint or grievance. The investigation must be completed within 15 working days unless an extension is granted by the superintendent. A written report of the findings and conclusions will be prepared by the investigator within five working days of the investigation’s completion and shared with the reporting party. Records of each complaint and grievance (including a copy of the complaint or grievance filed, report of findings from the investigation, and the disposition of the matter) are maintained by the district office.
