Welcome to Heritage Middle School! 

Mrs. Suzanne Larson will be joining HMS teaching 6 through 9 Orchestra. Mrs. Suzanne Larson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of North Dakota and her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from MSUM in Moorhead, Minnesota. Mrs. Larson is principal violist with the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra, and she subs regularly with the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony. She plays in her church orchestra and is frequently asked to play at weddings and to perform with string quartets.  She has been the past Co-Director of the Divertimento Chamber Orchestra and Summer Strings Programs in Grand Forks and is a judge for EDC and WDA String Solo and Ensemble Contests in North Dakota and Minnesota. Mrs. Larson is the past President of the North Dakota American String Teachers Association and is a past East Region Representative for the North Dakota Music Educators Board.  She maintains a private lesson studio and teaches at the Red River String Camp in Moorhead, Minnesota in the summer. Mrs. Larson has two grown children and four grandchildren. She resides in West Fargo, ND, with her husband Jon.  Her hobbies are biking, hiking, playing music and spending time with her family.  One of her favorite quotes is from the author Sarah Dessen-““Music is the great uniter. An incredible force.  Something that people who differ on everything and anything else can have in common.”

Mrs. Dullum

Welcome to Heritage Middle School! 

Mrs. Lisa Dullum will be joining HMS teaching 6th  & 7th  grade Band. Her Undergrad includes a Bachelor of Science in Education (Music) from Minot State University; Graduate - Master's in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She has been in music for 20 years; her first seven years were teaching K-12 Music in Bowbells, ND and Grenora, ND and the last 13 teaching elementary music for West Fargo Public Schools.  When not in school she enjoys spending time with her family and animals, reading, listening to music, finding ways to be creative (crafting). Mrs. Dullum is looking forward to building a community of learners and starting a tradition of musical excellence and enjoyment for our school and community. Mrs. Wentz

Welcome to Heritage Middle School! 

Mrs. Nancy Wentz will be joining HMS teaching Physical Education for grades 6-8. She has a B.S. in Physical Education & Health, M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from North Dakota State University. Mrs. Wentz has taught in the West Fargo Public School District for 16 years which includes nine years at CMS and seven years at LMS. When not in school, Mrs. Wentz enjoys reading, shopping, snowmobiling, paddle boarding, and walking her dog. Mrs. Wentz is looking forward to meeting new students and parents and creating an outstanding Hawk culture at HMS. Mr. Erickson

Welcome to Heritage Middle!  

Mr. Erickson will be transitioning into 6-8 Physical Education for Heritage Middle School. Last year he was our 6th grade physical education teacher at Deer Creek/Heritage. Mr. Erickson found joy in coaching for Liberty Middle School and intends on bringing that to our new school. What brought him to the Fargo-Moorhead area was an opportunity to play college football at MSUM. He graduated with his bachelor's in health and Physical Education. Outside of school, Mr. Erickson is thriving/surviving in his new role of being a dad to twin boys.

Welcome to Heritage Middle School!  

Mrs. Lindsay Opp will be joining Heritage Middle School as an art teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art Education and minor in Studio Art from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Mrs. Skarphol

Welcome to Heritage Middle School!  

Mrs. Maia Skarphol will be joining Heritage Middle School as an art teacher in the upcoming 2020-21 school year. She has had many roles in the arts community, but this will be her 6th year of teaching middle school level art, and her first year in the West Fargo Public School District. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She also has her Master's Degree in Technology Integration from St. Catherine's University in Minneapolis. Ms. VanHatten

Ms. Jane VanHatten returns to HMS this year and will expand her teaching to 6th –9th grade foreign language. She received her B.A. from Concordia College and her Master’s degree from the University of St. Thomas. She taught French and Spanish at Sheyenne High School for the past five years, and has over 24 years of teaching experience K-12. She enjoys traveling, music, crafts, gardening and making a difference in her community. Madame VanHatten is looking forward to opening the world for our 6th –9th grade students next year at Heritage Middle School!

Mrs. Gaylord

Welcome to Heritage Middle School! 

Mrs. Gaylord will be joining HMS as our Spanish teacher for the 2020-2121 school year. She graduated from Dilworth Glyndon Felton high school where she was involved with volleyball, softball, and dance line. She later attended Minnesota State University Moorhead and also studied abroad at UNINTER Universidad International in Cuernavaca, Mexico. She graduated in 2009 with a degree in Spanish education. . She has been a Spanish teacher for 10 years for Fargo Public Schools and Dilworth Glyndon Felton schools. For all of her 10 years teaching she has also coached volleyball and softball. She will also be coaching volleyball for Horace. When she is not teaching Spanish she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, including her pets, husband and daughter. She loves to play and watch softball and volleyball, watch football and baseball, fish, and do most things outdoors.

Mrs. Saunders

Welcome to Heritage Middle School! 

Mrs. Megan Saunders will be joining HMS teaching FACS/Health. She has a Family and Consumer Sciences degree from NDSU and started teaching right out of college in 2014. Mrs. Saunders has taught many elective classes for both middle and high school students, her favorite probably being Housing and Interior Design. When not in the classroom she enjoys hanging out with her husband and two sons, playing volleyball, music, gardening, making bread, sewing, crafting, and more! Mrs. Daley

Welcome to Heritage Middle School!  

Mrs. Leigh (Langehough) Daley will be joining HMS teaching CTE. She graduated from Drake University with a BSBA (Marketing) and also Valley City State University with her MAT. Mrs. Daley taught one full year at Liberty MS: 6th grade GTT, Computer Apps, and 8th grade GTT. When not in the classroom she enjoys running, spending time with family in Minnesota and Montana, wearing crew necks and sweatpants, and eating from all the sample displays while grocery shopping. Mrs. Daley is looking forward to building a legacy of tradition and excellence at a brand-new school with all the students and staff! Welcome to Heritage Middle School! 

Mr. Preston Kath will be joining HMS teaching CTE. He graduated from Mayville State University with a degree in Secondary Mathematics and Physical Education. Mr. Kath taught at Wahpeton Middle School for 2 years teaching 8th grade Math/Design & Modeling. He also was the 8th grade boys' basketball coach, Assistant Varsity baseball coach, Mathletes Advisor and 8th grade fundraiser committee member.  Currently he is pursuing his Masters at University Mary for Secondary Administration. When not in the classroom Mr. Kath enjoys going to the lake, spending time with his wife and black lab Nella, fishing and hunting.
