Message from West Fargo Public Schools

  • Greetings!

If you have found this webpage, you are probably interested in serving the learners, educators, and community of West Fargo Public Schools. Being a Board member is very different than many folks think, so our Board and administration put this page together to help answer some of the most frequently asked questions we receive about the work of a School Board.

In addition to the FAQs listed below, we also encourage you to dig into our Board Policies, Board Bylaws, and meeting agendas. These documents give you a more in-depth look at the operations of our district.

Please feel free to join us at any of our regular Board or committee meetings to watch the proceedings firsthand, or reach out to any of us with questions. Our Board members can provide insight into time commitments, communication with the public, and other experiences that only Board members can speak about. Business Manager Levi Bachmeier can address your election-related inquiries: timelines, requirements, and process. All other inquiries can be directed to Board Secretary Alicia Severson.

We are looking forward to connecting with anyone that is interested in joining the WFPS team!

2024 School Board Election Information

  • The West Fargo School District has three (3) School Board member seats whose terms expire in June 2024. They are currently held by Ms. Trisha Page, Mr. Dan Schaeffer, and President Patti Stedman. All terms are four (4) years in duration.

Individuals who are interested in running for the school board must successfully complete an Affidavit of Candidacy and a Statement of Interests form.  Both forms must be notarized and returned to the business manager no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024, 64 days before the election, at which time the placement of names on the ballot will be randomly determined.  The business manager’s office is located at the Leidal Education Center, 207 Main Avenue W, West Fargo ND, 58078.

New this election cycle will be a requirement for candidates to complete a Campaign Disclosure Statement, requiring reporting of revenues and categories of expenditures used for campaign purposes. This change is a result of legislative action in 2023 for large school districts.

Interested candidates may contact the business manager by phone at 701-499-1077 or by e-mail at for more information.

In addition, the ballot will include the question of publishing the proceedings of the School Board in the official newspaper.
