Grade Six Deer Creek Transition

  • The district is pleased to officially welcome fifth grade students from Horace and Legacy Elementary Schools as members of one of the first classes to attend the new middle school on 76th Avenue South and Sheyenne Street once it opens in 2020-2021! These students will move to the new middle school as seventh graders, where they will join sixth and eighth grade students. While we eagerly anticipate the opening of this new school, the district did need to make a temporary adjustment to alleviate projected overcrowding at Liberty Middle School and to more efficiently use existing space at all our facilities.

Prior to deciding on this temporary adjustment, the district studied different scenarios of how best to utilize current spaces while new schools are under construction. The goal was to find temporary space solutions while still allowing room for growth at as many schools as possible. The final plan for 2019-2020 includes housing approximately 140 sixth grade students at Deer Creek Elementary.
