Math Pathway Protocol

The multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) math pathway includes three levels of support: intensive, strategic, and benchmark. All learners complete our universal interim assessments, which are monitored along with classroom progress to determine if further assessment is needed for individuals.
- Benchmark - Trending between 35th - 99th percentile on the interim assessments
- Enrolled in core math
- Strategic - Trending below the 35th percentile on the interim assessments and below proficient in the classroom
- Enrolled in core math and possibly a targeted math intervention
- Intensive - Trending below the 20th percentile on the interim assessment, showing significant deficits in math skills in the classroom.
- Enrolled in an alternate core math course
- Benchmark - Trending between 35th - 99th percentile on the interim assessments

AddVantage Math Recovery (AVMR)
AddVantage Math Recovery (AVMR) supports foundational learning of numeracy concepts.
Foundational learning of whole number topics such as number words and numerals, structuring numbers, addition and subtraction, and topics that affect the development of future mathematical understanding. The topics and domains covered often appear later on as holes in understanding for older struggling students.
Expand and deepen knowledge and understanding of the mathematical development for all students by implementing diagnostic assessments for multiplication and division and place value understanding.
Explore how students develop concepts and strategies with fractions to support algebraic reasoning and applying operations.

Connecting Math Concepts
Connecting Math Concepts emphasizes key mathematical concepts (the big ideas) that make it easier for students to learn math. Through highly explicit and systematic instruction, the program teaches explicit strategies that all students can learn and apply, strikes a balance between computation and problem solving for better overall comprehension of math, provides the practice needed to achieve procedural mastery and depth of understanding, and helps students make connections among related concepts and across daily instructional activities.
