Transition Academy

  • Mission: West Fargo Transition Academy strives to empower individuals to recognize their value and potential while instilling the desire to be life-long contributing members of their communities. The program will assist youth in acquiring the skills and access resources necessary to become productive and independent citizens. This is accomplished in partnership with the students, families, and community resources.

The West Fargo Transition Academy (WFTA) is an educational option for students’ with disabilities ages 18-21 years who have completed their high school academic requirements and are ready to transition to a community-based program that emphasizes a seamless transition to post-high school settings. Placement in the Transition Academy is determined by the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). The IEP team utilizes the student’s transition assessments and the transition goals to determine appropriate programming for the individual student. The WFTA strives to ensure there is collaboration among school, family, and appropriate adult service agencies to best serve the students. As the transition student leaves the educational system, the WFTA facilitates a plan for employment, recreation, and postsecondary education to support life-long success.
