ENGLISH
- SENIOR ENGLISH EARLY BIRD CLASS
- The students in the West Fargo Senior English Early Bird class are reading literature that involves choices. Some of these choices result in good happening, yet some of these choices are destructive. We have read great pieces of literature such as Shakespeare’s Macbeth, excerpts from Dante’s “Divine Comedy”, John Donne’s poetry and prose, and Sophocles’ Antigone. Through each of these pieces we discussed the choices the characters made. With this in mind we brainstormed about choices that kids and teens make that are sometimes in their control and sometimes not. The students then researched on what their group wanted to learn about, made a story board on a possible Public Service Announcement, and gave a presentation based on their storyboard idea to a junior English class for constructive criticism. We then produced :30 and :15 second versions of Public Service Announcements on issues students are dealing with today. The results are in my opinion outstanding! Each idea has a different twist to it, and involves a choice. Through this project the students were able to discuss problems with these choices, and various opinions about these choices.
MATH
- ALGEBRA II
- Students in my Algebra II classes went out and took the measurements of at least 10 people. They then plotted those different measurements as points and regressed a best-fit line to their data. From that line they interpreted relationships amongst the measurements. Check it out and see how you would measure up?
