SCHOOL DESCRIPTION: The Osgood Kindergarten Center will open its doors in its third year to roughly 500 Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade Students (an increase of 150 from 2010-2011 and 240 since 2009-2010). Osgood will mainly house future Horace and Aurora Elementary students. Osgood will have all of the first graders from Aurora during the 2011-2012 school year; hence, Aurora will only be Grades 2-5 during the 2011-2012 school year. The first day of school for FIRST grade students is Thursday, August 25. The first day of school for Kindergarten students is Monday, August 29 (Thursday and Friday, August 25-26 will be Assessment Days for Kindergarten students - SEE Assessment Days below). Other important dates - Registration: August 9 (11:00 AM to 7:00 PM) & 10 (8:00 AM-4:00 PM). Assessment Days (just for Kindergarten students): August 25 & 26 (you will sign up for an assessment day/time for your Kindergarten child during registration). Back to School Night for Osgood on August 23 has been cancelled due to construction. Kindergarten Assessments will still be held on August 25 and 26.

We are proud to announce that beginning with the 2008 – 2009 school year, West Fargo offered full-day Kindergarten to all students and will continue into 2011-2012. Our day will begin at 7:50 and end at 2:30 for most students. There will be a hot lunch program for those who choose to participate. Our staff will include 21-22 classroom teachers, resource teachers, speech and language practitioners, tier teachers, physical education teachers, and music teachers. Also integral to our school is a counselor, a school psychologist, OT/PT, and media specialist.

We will provide an age appropriate curriculum which includes reading, writing, speaking and listening activities along with special units in health, math, science and social studies. We will coordinate with Aurora and Horace to insure a smooth transition into the next grade level. One of our main goals this year is to continue to develop a behavior management system for Osgood. This will be accomplished through committee work and also professional development.
Note: Students who live more than 0.9 miles from the kindergarten center will be eligible for bussing. Transportation for students who live closer than 0.9 miles will be the responsibility of the parents.
