Welcome

I would like to welcome all our new and returning Eastwood families to the 2011-2012 school year! We are excited for the start of the school year and look forward to partnering with you for a fantastic year! Our custodial staff worked hard this summer preparing the building for the return of children, and our Eastwood faculty have been busy preparing exciting and enriching lessons to help challenge all our students with their learning. Our top priority is your children, and we will work hard to meet our mission of helping all our Eastwood children learn and grow.

Eastwood has a diverse population that represents many different cultures and languages. We embrace the idea that we are a school where our children demonstrate their Eagle Pride through positive actions, determination, good choices, and a willingness to help others. We strive for building positive and lasting connections with our students and parents.

As you will find out, Eastwood offers a challenging and quality education program for all our children, which includes highly qualified instructors and paraprofessionals designing and implementing units of instruction, enrichment and intervention opportunities for all children in our Schoolwide Title Model, special services for English Language Learners and Special Education Learners, and opportunities for all children to explore, create, and learn. We strive to help all our Eagles soar to new heights daily and apply what they learn.

As an important partner in your child's education, we ask that you please take time to read over the procedures and policies in the Student/Parent Handbook and review our school compact. You can also access information on our website. We invite you to get to know your child's teacher and please feel free to call, email, or set up appointments to discuss any questions or concerns with us throughout the school year – we are here to help! We also encourage families to check your child's homework folders and assignment notebooks every night to stay involved with your child's learning and set aside time at home each evening to visit with your child about his/her school day. The home and school connection is vital for academic success!

On behalf of the Eastwood faculty, I welcome you to an exciting year of learning. By working together, we can help our Eastwood Eagles soar to new heights daily and apply what they learn! We look forward to working with your child and helping him or her have a great school year!
