Eastwood Elementary
Fit for Life
Dear students, parents and staff of Eastwood,
Eastwood Elementary has implemented a "Fit for Life" program. The "Fit for Life" program is an extension of the physical education program. It is a program that will enable your child to earn points by tracking these 5 key health behaviors (each health behavior is worth 2 pts):
- 1 hour of physical activity
- Eat 5+ fruits and vegetables per day
- Less than 1 hr. of TV time, playing video games or playing on the computer
- No sugary drinks
- Eat breakfast & try school snack
Point sheets will then be turned in on the 1st of each month (with a 2 day-grace period) to Mr. Dodd or Mrs. Beil (PE teachers). The master point chart will be placed in the hall by room 300.
Please use the calendar on the other side. Check each health behavior completed each day. Please total the points (300-310 max points) at the end of the month, have it signed by a parent/guardian and turn in the calendar to a PE teacher on the first day of the following month.
The maximum points per day is 10
Criteria for ALL GRADES: At 400 points, students will earn a small reward. At 600 points, participants will qualify for a "Fit for Life" t-shirt. Once you qualify, you will receive a t-shirt order form in which you will be responsible for paying for at least ½ or more of the cost of t-shirt. T-shirts will be ordered only 2 times a year (December and March). At 1000 points, students will earn free time in May. Students that complete 1200 points will earn a year-end party in which the student will be responsible for paying.
The program will start September 1st, 201 and ends on April 30th, 2012. Calendars need to be turned in 6 out of 8 months to attend the year-end party.
Bonus Point Opportunities:
You can earn bonus points by doing community service.
30 minutes = 10 pts. (max 30 pts. per month). Please look on the other side for ideas.
This program is open to any parent, sibling, or staff member at Eastwood Elementary School. Parents, siblings and staff will need to pay the entire cost of the t-shirt and record on their own calendar (return calendar to the PE Dept.)
