Jared Steinberger and Diane Hahn, eighth-grade students at Cheney Middle School in West Fargo, recently won first place in the exhibit and paper categories at the North Dakota State History Day competition in Bismarck on April 3.
Steinberger's exhibit explored the use of cartooning in the Non Partisan League in North Dakota. Hahn's paper was about Elizabeth Preston Anderson, 40-year president of the Women's Christian Temperance Union in North Dakota.
Sixth-graders Eleni Wilson and Morgan Burke placed third with their performance about Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. Hahn received a special award for the best junior division North Dakota history project.
Steinberger and Hahn will represent North Dakota at National History Day in Washington D.C., in June. |
