As part of the recommendation given to the School Board by the district's Long Range Facility Planning Task Force, a new 550-student elementary school is under construction. This school is being built on recently acquired land west of Veterans Boulevard between 32nd Avenue and I-94. The estimated cost of this project is $11 million. The school will be open for the 2012-13 school year, and will serve students in grades 1-5. The Boundary & Demographics Advisory Committee is currently working on the necessary boundary adjustments to populate this and all WFPS elementary schools accordingly.
Bond Referendum Projects > Liberty Middle School
As part of the recommendation given to the School Board by the district's Long Range Facility Planning Task Force, a new 1,200-student middle school is under construction. This school is being built on the north end of the Sheyenne property. The estimated cost of this project is $33.3 million. The school will be open for the 2013-14 school year, and will serve students in grades 6-8. Interstate 94 will serve as the boundary line between Cheney Middle School and Liberty Middle School.
Bond Referendum Projects > Sheyenne High School
As part of the recommendation given to the School Board by the district's Long Range Facility Planning Task Force, a 900-student addition to the Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center is under construction. This addition will turn Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center into the district's second high school…West Fargo Sheyenne High School. The estimated cost of this project is $26.8 million. The academic addition will be complete for the 2013-14 school year, with the gym/fine arts addition slated for completion for the 2014-15 school year. When Sheyenne High School is fully phased in, it will serve students in grades 9-12. The 2011-12 eighth grade students will be the first graduating class from WFPS that will be split between West Fargo High School and Sheyenne High School. Interstate 94 will serve as the boundary line between West Fargo High School and Sheyenne High School .
Bond Referendum Projects > 54th St Elementary
As part of the recommendation given to the School Board by the district's Long Range Facility Planning Task Force, the second of two new 550-student elementary schools is under construction. This school is being built on recently acquired land east of Veterans Boulevard between 36th and 40th Avenues, along 54th Street in Fargo. The estimated cost of this project is $11 million. The school will be open for the 2014-15 school year, and will serve students in grades 1-5. The school attendance zone for the 54th Street Elementary School is currently delineated as follows: 32nd Avenue to 40th Avenue South, bounded on the west by Veterans Boulevard and on the east by 45th Street; and 40th Avenue to 64th Avenue South, bounded on the west by the Sheyenne River and on the east by 45th Street.
Bond Referendum Projects > Osgood
As part of the recommendation given to the School Board by the district's Southside Enrollment Committee, two classrooms are being added onto the Osgood Kindergarten Center. The addition of these two classrooms, coupled with the capture of three existing classrooms at the OKC, will result in 110 slots for southside first graders during the 2013-14 school year. These first graders will attend the 54th Street Elementary School as second graders, when it opens in 2014-15. Once first grade has vacated these five classrooms, these spaces will be utilized for the district's ever-expanding kindergarten enrollment.
